For the maintenance work, both tunnel tubes and tunnel roads need to be free of traffic. We have decided to close the tunnel during the evening and night hours to minimize disruption as much as possible.
Detour via Antwerp
The maintenance work will begin at 7:30 PM on Tuesday, May 27, and continue until 5:00 AM on Wednesday, May 28 — or earlier if possible. Traffic will be diverted via Antwerp, and temporary yellow road signs will indicate the recommended route.
About the Total Closure
The total closure is necessary for the mandatory testing of all safety systems in the tunnel. In addition, we will carry out all tasks that require the tunnel, Toll Plaza, and roadway to be free of traffic. For example, we will inspect the entire electrical system and can temporarily disconnect the power. We will also test the emergency system and check the asphalt. Additionally, the Toll Plaza will undergo a thorough cleaning.
