Hazardous materials

The transport of hazardous materials is organised in two Dutch laws: .Wet vervoer gevaarlijke stoffen. (WVGS) and .Regeling vervoer over land van gevaarlijke stoffen. (VLG). These laws are based on the European agreement of transports of hazardous materials across the roads, the ADR. In this ADR you will find safety agreements for all who are involved in transports. There are prescriptions for sender, addressee, loader, packaging, transporters and fillers.

The Westerscheldetunnel is a Category C tunnel. This means that vehicles with dangerous goods, that a serious or very serious explosion or a massive leak of toxic substances, can cause not qualify for this tunnel.
